Manchester United and Manchester City both picked up crucial wins, with the latter battling past a resilient Tottenham side. Meanwhile, Everton stunned Aston Villa, and Liverpool fought for hard-earned points on the road.

With the race for the title, European spots, and survival heating up, let’s dive into the biggest talking points from an unforgettable weekend of WSL football.

The Women’s Football Blog game of the weekend

Manchester City had to dig deep against a determined Tottenham side, but Aoba Fujino’s late screamer secured a crucial 2-1 victory in the Women’s Super League.

Gareth Taylor’s team didn’t have it all their own way in north London. Spurs put up a real fight, especially after Bethany England canceled out Vivianne Miedema’s opener in the first half. The hosts created several promising chances but couldn’t make them count.

In the end, City’s quality made the difference. Fujino, who had already set up Miedema’s goal with some brilliant play, sealed the win with a stunning left-footed strike in the closing stages. The result keeps City firmly in the hunt for a top-three finish and the Champions League spot that comes with it.

Low table Battle: Aston Villa vs. Everton

Everton got a massive 3 points on the road at Aston Villa. Maren Mjelde opened the score with a stunning volley to give the Toffees the lead, before Honoka Hayashi wrapped up the victory in style, squeezing her finish p ast the keeper from a tight angle after the break. For Everton it seems that the incoming winter transfers are really stepping up, which has led to some great results, whereas Aston Villa keeps struggling this season.

Arsenal completes stunning comeback to edge seven-goal thriller against West Ham

Arsenal pulled off a sensational second-half turnaround to beat West Ham 4-3 in a pulsating WSL clash, recovering from a two-goal deficit to claim all three points.

The visitors stunned the Gunners early on, with Amber Tysiak making her mark by scoring twice inside the opening 12 minutes. The defender first capitalized on a well-placed cross from Viviane Asseyi before heading in a second moments later, leaving the hosts shell-shocked.

Arsenal fought to regain control, but West Ham remained resilient until late in the first half, when Chloe Kelly struck to give the home side a lifeline before the break. However, the Hammers restored their two-goal advantage early in the second half as Shannon Martinez fired in a goal just minutes after the restart.

That seemed to wake up Arsenal, who responded emphatically. Katie McCabe fired home – from the byline –  in the 56th minute to make it 3-2. Leah Williamson then equalized with a stunning header from a Chloe Kelly corner just two minutes later, capping a frantic spell where Arsenal suddenly found their rhythm. Momentum was firmly with the hosts, and they completed the comeback when Mariona Caldentey converted from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute, sending Meadow Park into a frenzy.

Despite a nervy finish, Arsenal held on to secure a dramatic victory, showing incredible resilience to keep their WSL title hopes alive. West Ham, on the other hand, will be left wondering how they let such a strong position slip away.
