It's Liverpool's time to shine, whereas Chelsea suffer another devestating blow in the search for trophies.

Due to Chelsea’s Champions League semi-final on Saturday, the most entertaining game of the Barclays Women’s Super League of round 20 was only played on Wednesday. As Chelsea fought for their last chances to obtain some silverware, they found out that  Matt Beard’s Liverpool was once hurdle to much to take, and they suffered a devestating blow in their trophy hunt this season. Chelsea started the game brightly, and got an early 0-1 lead thanks to a Aggie Beever-Jones goal, but they failed to capitalize and score any more goals in the first half. At half-time both teams entered the locker rooms, but nothing could have prepared them and the fans for what was to come in the second half. In the 51st minute Sophie Roman Haug got the equalizer for Liverpool with a well-placed header from a Hobinger corner kick, and 15 minutes later it was again from a set-piece that Liverpool scored their second goal. A header by Gemma Bonner was deflected by Erin Cuthbert, and ended up in the back of the net. Chelsea made a few subs, as they looked tired, and failed to create real chances. But in the 80th minute the search for a goal finally paid off, as Beever-Jones scored her second goal of the evening. Knowing that Manchester City had won their game on Sunday, Chelsea had to go for the three points, however from kick-off an incredible pass by Ceri Holland saw Leanne Kiernan 1v1 with Hannah Hampton and she calmly scored the 3-2 for Liverpool. However, as this game wasn’t entertaining enough one minute later a deflected shot via the back of Liverpool’s goalkeeper Teagan Micah, meant Chelsea once again got the equalizer. However, as set-pieces for Liverpool were the theme of the night, in the 90-2′ minute Gemma Bonner once again headed home a corner, which this time meant Chelsea were unable to get the equalizer back.

At full-time the Chelsea players were absolutely devasted, and maybe saw the last chance of silverware in Emma Hayes’ final season as a manager, slip through their fingers. Even tough, with Manchester City playing Arsenal at the weekend, there is still a mathematical chance Chelsea could get their hands on the trophy, it is very much Manchester City’s title to lose at this point.
