A race to the title for some, and a chance to finish the season well for others
During the week Aston Villa manager Carla Ward suprisingly announced that she was stepping down as the manager, to spend some time away from coaching and with a focus on her family. On a personal note, I find it an incredibly brave decision to make, however, as a top female coach within the WSL she will be greatly missed. Aston Villa will no doubt try and win the final two games of the season, to end up somewhere in the middle of the table. After the bad start they had, finishing 7th would be a good way to finish of the season. We’ll have to await the consequences of Carla Ward’s departure for the Aston Villa squad, as a lot of players really seemed to have come to the club for her. Nevertheless, it’s never boring in the WSL and there will be some exciting weeks to come.
