West Ham United gets vital three points in the head-to-head clash with relagation compatriot Bristol City.
Week 12 of the Barclays WSL has come to end. All the top teams went on to win their games, so the race to win the league is still on for each of them. However, the team who most likely is the happiest with their win this weekend will be West Ham United. In a real relagation battle clash with their compatriot Bristol City they managed to get the away win and the vital three points. The win means they are now three points above last place. Once again Mini Gorry ‘bossed’ the midfield, with tenacious running and tackles to get her team out of some tricky situations. Slick finishing by Hayashi gave the Hammers the lead, and just when they thought they scored the second goal via Zadorsky (ruled out for handball), Bristol City countered their way to an equalizer. However, a very good finish from Asseyi saw West Ham regain the lead, and this time they held on.
Other results of this weekend:
- Brighton & Hove Albion – Chelsea (0-3)
- Manchester United – Aston Villa (2-1)
- Everton – Leicester City (0-1)
- Tottenham Hotspur – Manchester City (0-2)
- Bristol City – West Ham United (1-2)
- Liverpool – Arsenal (0-2)
