Double Blow for Scotland's Women's Team as ACL injuries sideline stars
The Scottish Women’s team has been hit by two major setbacks as young sensation Emma Watson and star player Caroline Weir both suffered ACL injuries, putting them out of action for the foreseeable future.
Midfielder Emma Watson, who had recently transferred from Scottish side Rangers to Manchester United at the start of the season, suffered an ACL injury while on international duty. The 17-year-old had made an impressive start to her senior career with three goals in her first four caps for Scotland, earning widespread praise for her performances. She is now set to begin her rehabilitation process at the Carrington training facilities.
Just days after Emma Watson’s injury, the Scottish side faced another devastating blow as star player Caroline Weir ruptured her ACL during a Nations League game against Belgium, only 19 minutes into the match. The Real Madrid and Scotland midfielder appeared to hyperextend her knee and immediately fell to the ground. Confirmation of Weir’s injury came just two days later from her club, Real Madrid.
